Hanover Grange – Tryall
Listing Description
Hanover Grange is one of the latest additions to the Tryall family of Estate Villas. The homeowner is Jamaican-Born Theresa Roberts who has lived for many years in the United Kingdom but now divides her time between Knightsbridge in central London and Hanover Grange.
Theresa and her husband Andrew built this home with her two great passions (her love for her native Jamaica and her love for the arts) firmly in the forefront of their minds. The Long Gallery at Hanover Grange showcases Jamaican art in the classic genre with old masters such as Barrington Watson and Albert Huie alongside contemporary pieces from the likes of Monique Lofters and Kristina Rowe. Theresa has also displayed a small part of her international collection in the Villa.
Theresa’s ambition is to use Hanover Grange to showcase to the world the very best of modern Jamaica. The décor of the Villa is contemporary in order to highlight the art displayed throughout the home. For example the grand entrance foyer features a bust from Theresa’s close personal friend Marguerita Hernandez and the main Living Room contains enormous wall mounted sculptures created and installed by the well-known international artist David Begbie who is also a good friend.
Other highlights include the Schonbek black crystal chandeliers, infinity edge pool, organic cook ware; Hanover Grange embroidered Ralph Lauren linens, a dumb-waiter that runs from the upstairs kitchen to the butler’s pantry on the first floor and a formal Dining Room that can seat 30 comfortably for dinner. It was important to Theresa that her guests should be able to enjoy top class local Jamaican produce To help achieve this the Villa aims to produce much of its own food with an organic garden containing fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables.
In addition to the kitchen gardens, the team has created another garden that provides flora and fauna to be used for decorating the Villa. Theresa has created an environment that is unique to The Tryall Club and combines the traditions of old world Jamaica with the vibrant esoteric energy of the modern day Jamaican Art world. Since opening Hanover Grange has become the highest profile privately owned villa in Jamaica which has welcomed a succession of international celebrities and business leaders as guests and attracted the attention of the world’s media.
